What is Time Management and how can I best use time?

Time Management

Why could managing time be so important? Because time truly is money. And no one argues the importance of the need for money management. So where does time management begin?

Just like good money management, time management requires self-discipline. Prioritising is easier said than done, so self-control and discipline are required. However it doesn't stop there. At a business level, money management requires certain tools to keep your finances managed, for example:

  • Accounting software to charge, track expenditure and budget for the future

  • A secure place to hold cash on hand, like a safe or bank account

  • Systems (postage/inbox/out-tray/purchase orders/cheque book) to process the flow of money

So is there any reason Time Management wouldn't need similar tools to have you managing not only your own time but also your employee time at a business level?

  • Payroll software to track time for job costing and employee pay

  • Time clocks for employees to input their time and job activity, which connects to the software

  • Systems that keep time reports secure and free of tampering, and can also control door access

Thankfully, with time management, this third bullet point is also handled by the very same time clocks that input the data and feed the accounting software.
